Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch cake pan.
  2. Prepare the cake mix according to package instructions, then pour into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Allow the cake to cool for 15 minutes, then poke holes across the top using a fork.
  5. In a saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk, brown sugar, butter and cook over medium heat until melted and combined.
  6. Pour the mixture over the cake, ensuring it gets into the holes.
  7. Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours.
  8. Before serving, whip the heavy cream and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form, then spread over the top of the cake.
  9. Garnish with chopped pecans.

Notes
