These candied yams are sweet, tender, and packed full of flavor, making them the perfect addition to any meal.
Ingredients

- 4 medium sweet potatoes
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel and slice the sweet potatoes into rounds.
- In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the brown sugar, water, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir until combined.
- Add the sweet potatoes to the pan and coat them in the syrup.
- Transfer the sweet potatoes to a baking dish and pour the remaining syrup over the top.
- Bake for 45 minutes, basting occasionally with the syrup, until tender.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add mini marshmallows on top during the last 10 minutes of baking.
- These yams pair well with ham and turkey.
