- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups cooked white rice
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Optional: chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until browned, about 7–8 minutes. Drain excess grease.
- Season beef mixture with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Stir to combine.
- In a large bowl, mix cooked rice, cream of mushroom soup, milk, 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar, and beef mixture.
- Spread mixture evenly into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Top with remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese.
- Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes until hot and bubbly.
- Remove from oven, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
- Leftover rice works best to avoid mushiness.
- You can swap cream of mushroom with cream of chicken soup or homemade white sauce.
- Ground turkey or chicken can be used instead of beef.
