Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breast, diced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup carrots, sliced
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon thyme

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, heat the chicken broth over medium heat.
  2. Add the diced chicken, carrots, celery, and thyme. Simmer until the chicken is cooked through.
  3. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk and melted butter until combined.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of the dough into the simmering broth.
  5. Cover and cook for 15 minutes, or until the dumplings are fluffy.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a bay leaf while simmering the broth.
  • Leftover chicken can also be used for this recipe.
