Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla, and mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually stir in boiling water until the batter is smooth.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.
  6. Once done, let the cakes cool for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  7. For the buttercream, beat together softened butter and powdered sugar until fluffy, then add vanilla and milk to achieve desired consistency.
  8. Once cooled, frost the top of one cake layer and stack the second layer on top, frosting the top and sides.

Notes
