Description

A sumptuous classic meal featuring tender beef braised in red wine, complemented by the delightful taste of turkey bacon.


Ingredients

  • 2 pounds beef chuck, cut into cubes
  • 4 ounces turkey bacon, diced
  • 2 cups red wine
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large Dutch oven, cook the turkey bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the bacon drippings, brown the beef cubes on all sides. Remove beef and set aside.
  4. Add onions, carrots, and garlic to the pot, cooking until softened.
  5. Stir in the flour and mix well.
  6. Add tomato paste, wine, beef broth, thyme, and bay leaves; bring to a boil.
  7. Return beef and turkey bacon to the pot, then cover and transfer to the oven.
  8. Braise in the oven for about 2.5 to 3 hours, until the beef is tender.
  9. Season with salt and pepper before serving.

Notes

  • Serve with crusty bread or mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
  • This dish can be made a day ahead for improved flavors.
