- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a bowl, combine flour and butter until crumbly.
- Add sour cream and mix until dough forms.
- Divide dough into 4 pieces, roll each out, and place on baking sheets.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow the layers to cool completely.
- For the filling, whisk eggs and sugar until pale, then add milk and heat over medium until thickened.
- Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and let cool.
- Whip heavy cream and fold into cooled mixture.
- Layer the pastry with the filling, repeating until all layers are used.
- Refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.
Notes
- For a more decadent flavor, add a few tablespoons of cocoa powder to the filling.
