Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk, mixing until just combined.
  7. Fold in the chopped pecans.
  8. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  10. Let cool, then top with caramel sauce.

Notes

  • For an extra touch, brûlée some sugar on top before serving.
