- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Add the dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped pecans.
- Pour the batter into a greased cake pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cool, then top with caramel sauce.
Notes
- For an extra touch, brûlée some sugar on top before serving.
- Serve with whipped cream for added richness.
