- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 5 large egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup caramel sauce
- 1/4 cup sugar (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
- In a saucepan, heat the cream and milk over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
- In a bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until pale and thickened.
- Slowly add the hot cream mixture to the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
- Stir in vanilla extract and caramel sauce.
- Pour the mixture into ramekins and place them in a baking dish filled with water.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until set but slightly wobbly in the center.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Before serving, sprinkle sugar on top and caramelize using a kitchen torch or broiler.
Notes
- For a stronger caramel flavor, increase the amount of caramel sauce.
- Ensure the mixture is well blended to prevent curdling.
