Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 5 large egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. In a saucepan, heat the cream and milk over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and granulated sugar until pale and thickened.
  4. Slowly add the hot cream mixture to the egg mixture, whisking constantly.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract and caramel sauce.
  6. Pour the mixture into ramekins and place them in a baking dish filled with water.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes until set but slightly wobbly in the center.
  8. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  9. Before serving, sprinkle sugar on top and caramelize using a kitchen torch or broiler.

Notes

  • For a stronger caramel flavor, increase the amount of caramel sauce.
  • Ensure the mixture is well blended to prevent curdling.
