Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups peeled and chopped apples
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, and egg.
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the chopped apples.
  5. Pour the batter into the donut pan and fill each cavity about 2/3 full.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, oats, flour, softened butter, and cinnamon to create the crumb topping.
  7. Sprinkle the crumb mixture over the batter in the donut pan.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the donuts are golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool for a few minutes before removing from the pan.

Notes

  • For a sweeter donut, add more sugar to the batter.
  • These donuts are best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored for a couple of days.
