Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let sit until foamy.
  2. Add the flour, oil, salt, and eggs to the mixture.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, about 10 minutes.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 1 hour.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into three equal pieces.
  6. Braid the pieces together and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Brush the braid with beaten egg.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Let cool before slicing.
