Description
A hearty and flavorful French Onion Beef Stew topped with cheesy turkey bacon bread for a delicious twist.

- 2 pounds beef chuck, cut into cubes
- 4 cups beef broth
- 4 large onions, thinly sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup white wine
- 1 cup shredded cheese (Gruyere or Swiss)
- 8 slices turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 1 loaf crusty bread, sliced
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and cook until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
- Add garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper, then stir in the beef and brown on all sides.
- Pour in the wine and scrape the bottom of the pot. Add beef broth and bring to a simmer.
- Cover and cook for 2-3 hours until beef is tender.
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Arrange bread slices on top of the stew, sprinkle with cheese and turkey bacon.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until cheese is bubbly and bread is toasted.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use homemade beef broth.
- Feel free to add vegetables like carrots and potatoes.
