- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 3/4 cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar, then sprinkle yeast on top. Let it sit until foamy.
- In a separate bowl, mix flour and salt. Gradually add to the yeast mixture.
- Knead by hand or with a stand mixer until dough is smooth.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and shape into a loaf. Place in a greased loaf pan.
- Let it rise again until it reaches the top of the pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool before slicing.
Notes
- For an extra flavor, add herbs or garlic powder to the dough.
- Ensure the water is warm but not hot to activate the yeast properly.
