Description

A hearty, family-style comfort dish featuring seasoned ground beef in rich brown gravy served over fluffy mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water until tender (about 15 minutes). Drain and mash with milk and butter. Season and set aside.
  2. Heat oil in skillet. Sauté onion and garlic until softened (about 3 minutes).
  3. Add ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart.
  4. Sprinkle flour over beef. Stir to coat and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Gradually add beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Stir constantly.
  6. Simmer for 5 minutes until gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Serve the beef and gravy over mashed potatoes. Enjoy warm.

Notes

  • Use Yukon Gold for creamier mashed potatoes.
  • For richer gravy, add a splash of cream.
  • Make ahead and refrigerate for up to 4 days.
  • For gluten-free, use cornstarch instead of flour.
