- 4 medium-sized apples
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- food coloring (various colors)
- 4 wooden sticks
- 1 cup sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Wash and dry the apples, then insert wooden sticks into the tops.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Heat over medium-high until boiling.
- Stop stirring and let it boil until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Divide the syrup into bowls and add food coloring to each for desired colors.
- Dip each apple into the colored syrup until fully coated, then place on parchment paper.
- If using, immediately sprinkle with sprinkles before the candy hardens.
- Allow the candy apples to cool completely before serving.
Notes
- Make sure to use apples that are firm and fresh for best results.
- You can experiment with different food colorings for a unique look.
