Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup frozen peas
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 4 large tortillas
- Oil for frying or baking
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté for 3–4 minutes until translucent.
- Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5–7 minutes.
- Season with cumin, coriander, garam masala, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well.
- Add frozen peas and cook for another 2–3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in cilantro.
- Place a tortilla on a flat surface. Add a spoonful of beef mixture on one half, fold over, and press to seal.
- Repeat with remaining tortillas and filling.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry samosas for 2–3 minutes per side until golden, or bake at 400°F (200°C) for 18–20 minutes.
- Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with dipping sauce of choice.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef for a less greasy filling.
- Baking instead of frying reduces oil content by up to 40%.
- Samosas can be frozen raw or cooked for up to one month.
- Seal edges with a little water and press firmly to avoid leaks.
