- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk, warmed
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup fruit jam or jelly
- 1 cup powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add the flour, sugar, salt, eggs, and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Roll out the dough and cut into rounds. Let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer and fry the dough until golden brown.
- Drain and fill with jam, then dust with powdered sugar.
