Ingredients

- 3 pounds beef chuck roast
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 carrots, sliced
- 3 potatoes, diced
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Instructions
- Season the beef with salt and pepper.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet and sear the beef on all sides.
- Place the seared beef in the slow cooker.
- Add onion, carrots, and potatoes around the beef.
- In a bowl, mix together the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic; pour over the beef and vegetables.
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the beef is tender.
Notes
- Beef can be substituted with pork for a different flavor.
- This recipe can also be cooked on high for 4 hours.
